Saw Billy at midnight at Bonnaroo. Played a fine set. Ended up with White Wedding. Voice sounded good. Getting a little thick in midsection, compared to his 80s youth (understandable).

Also sang Bang the Gong at the SuperJam later that night.

Glad I saw him.

Two thumbs up from KING for Billy Idol Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Just love the Idol sound & the power in his voice. Idol's 80 hits were impressive:Flesh For Fantasy,Dancing With Myself,White Wedding,Rebel Yell,etc.

Billy Idol might not of been as popular as Madonna,MJ,Bruce,U2,Prince in the 80's but he had a loyal following & sold millions of albums.

Idol is just a great talent. I think the RRHOF has watered down the Hall with some acts . Billy Idol belongs because he sang some of the 80's most Classic hits. He was very innovative with the leather look & blond hair as well. KING

Billy Idol's one of those artists you keep running down his hits in your mind and he has a chance. Mony,Mony, Cradle Of Love, Flesh For Fantasy, Rebel Yell, Eyes Without A Face, Dancing With Myself classic 80's and early 90's songs. I'm glad to see there has been some talk on these rock forums about Billy Idol and his RRHOF chances. He has my vote. KING

Saw this guy at Loufest in St. Louis last weekend. Over the years I've enjoyed his hits and I haven't really wondered what his importance was to rock & roll and pop music until now. After enjoying his set, it made me realize how he made his mark. I also watched the VH1's Behind the Music episode about him and learned about Billy more.

For most people, I can understand how questionable it will be to put Billy Idol into the RRHOF. First off, yes, there are plenty of punk and 80s acts that are waiting with him. How does this guy stand out? Simple. His good looks, his sound, and his videos. He's pretty much almost the Jim Morrison of Punk. Johnny Rotten once called Billy 'the Perry Como of Punk'. I hope Billy Idol does get in sometime down the road. He doesn't seem to be that much in a hurry; just doing what he loves and hitting the festival scene for now.

I think Billy Idol, like Ronnie James Dio should be inducted for their solo careers. But like Dio with Rainbow, Billy Idol should be inducted with Generation X before being inducted as a solo artist first.

Billy idol is a rock icon and should be added to 2017 inductees. He is still out there making millions of genXers like myself happy. We love his music. I don't think its fair. Please for 46,000,000 GenXers who still listen to his music from 1975-2016. I have all his stuff and his music is and has always been brilliant. It got people to forget about life and have fun.

People tend to not take Idol very seriously because of his image, but really he is what rock and roll is all about. Attitude, a good strong voice and the ability to ROCK! I say get him in.

Billy idol should definitely be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This man has lived for music his whole life. He started out young in Gen X and really before that in a band called Chelsea. He always had a dream to be a "Rock Star" or "Punk Star" but his goal in life was to make music and sing. It was in his heart and he went after what he wanted. Even during all his wild years he still never let his fans down, he created his his own style of Punk Rock and he Rocked Out! He kept going and never gave up. I admire him to the fullest and I love his music. He is the epitome of what it means to be true to loving music and really keeping to your roots. He is very unique.
I love Billy Idol.

I always thought of Billy Idol as being style over substance. Take away the tough, heavily contrived image and you're left with quite mediocre songs, a decent voice but nothing special and a VERY 80s sound that in my opinion hasn't aged well. I think Billy Idol is a decent singer/songwriter, but not hall of fame worthy.

Billy Idol should ABSOLUTELY be inducted into the RHOF. His dedication to his craft for decades and his NUMEROUS number one hits are proof. As soon as you hear a Billy Idol song, it makes you perk up. He is simply awesome! They are inducting Whitney Houston, so why not Billy? I loved the fact that he was a little rough around the edges. Billy and Cyndi Lauper should both be inducted.

I feel like Billy Idol is very close to a nomination. If both Duran Duran and Pat Benatar go in this year I think he makes the ballot next year.

It's hard to believe he's never been nominated. He has maybe 6 or 7 songs that are widely considered rock radio classics (White Wedding, Dancing With Myself, Mony Mony, Rebel Yell, Eyes Without a Face, Cradle of Love, Hot in the City), was an MTV icon, popularized the term Generation X. Sure he was not a critical darling but he remained a relevant figure even after his music fell out of favour.

For about 25 years now, I feel like he's been played way more on classic rock radio than the J Geils Bands or Bostons of the world.

I guess the hall of shame is NOW actually the "kinda music related" hall of fame- so actually, Billy Idol should get his own museum!!! ...If he's not in the fake place b4 my death; a new hall called THE (REAL) Rock Hall of Fame will in-shine him...

Billy idol is still relevant, he made an appearance in the wedding singer. His popularity is still there and a multi selling artist but it probably won't happen till about 2030

I think he'll be in eventually. It just wasn't his year in 2025. Hopefully he'll get in before he's too old to perform. He can still rock at his age now. You can't deny his influence in the rock scene. He was one of the big rockers in the 80s.

I think that next year (2026) will be Billy's year for induction, As well as it should be. As much as I love Phil Collins, Sting, Bryan Adams and INXS, I just don't see any of them getting inducted (or in Phil and Sting's case, a second time solo) before Billy, I really think that it's Billy's year next year, As well as it should be.

You don't get a honest representation of 80s music without Billy Idol. But his discography is mostly weak with a short period of popularity. He will likely get in because his peak years were extremely memorable.
