Shame younger brother Randy wasn't inducted, pretty much after the J5 left Motown Michael and Randy wrote all the good music for the Jacksons such as Shake Your Body, Lovely One, and some others. I also think the Triumph album should be an essential album. It is a very underrated album and it shows off the creative side in the Jackson 5.

Why did they put these guys in the hall? I don't think that artists should be allowed in if they had a large part of their fanbase being kids. I mean... Seriously? LED ZEPPELIN appealling to 10 year olds? PINK FLOYD to 9 year old girls? The hall shouldn't induct artists unless the vast majority of their fanbase was teens and young adults. Yall can make a case for the Jacksons but still will fail. They were influential but INNOVATION!! How were the Jackson 5 innovative? Come on. What will you people say if they chose the NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK over GREEN DAY. The BACKSTREET BOYS over PEARL JAM. *NSYNC over NICKELBACK. THE JONAS BROTHERS over THE KILLERS. What will yall say. They should have chosen FLEETWOOD MAC or SANTANA in '97 over THE JACKSON 5. I dare yall to make a case for any of these comparisons

"The Jacksons"(post-Motown) should also be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Randy Jackson got cheated, and much of the independent songwriting talent of The Jacksons were ignored! The Jackson, Triumph and Destiny are AWESOME albums! And some of the best songs during The Jacksons era had , along with Michael, Randy Jackson's name written all over them. All of the brothers were hardworking, extremely talented and popular at that time and should be recognized.

The songs Destiny and Shake Your Body were and are really good songs and Can You Feel It is an actual masterpiece.

Plus, while Motown got a lot of recognition for their earlier work with The Jackson 5 as young adults, "The Jacksons" did a lot of work with Gamble & Huff, and there should be no denying what a talented team those two groups made. The songs from their self-title "The Jacksons" albums were some of the best of all time. Enjoy Yourself and Good Times are loved to this day, and Show You the Way to Go is up their with Stevie Wonders "As". Proof that the Motown-free Jacksons were industry savvy, prepared, smart and knew how to pick the best producers and songwriters to complement their evolving styles and voices.

They should have been nominated and inducted as The Jackson 5 / The Jacksons. That way Randy Jackson would have been included as an inductee.

Nothing they made really holds up. The production also wasn't that great so I'd actually think a remastering could help. But still, they only got inducted because Michael Jackson became the biggest star of all-time.

Posted by Jim C. on Sunday, 04/26/2026 @ 14:21pm

If only counts for charts

They have 8 top 10 billboard hits obtained before Michael Jackson solo breakthrough.

And I Want you Back is definitely mega song that holds well through time, with 1.15 billion streams on Spotify

If you think they are not deserving, you are racist.

Posted by O on Sunday, 04/26/2026 @ 14:44pm

Jim C think Guess Who is very deserving with less album saled in US (from bestselling album and wiki), less top 10 hits, and way less Spotify nunbers. But Jackson Five is not deserving for him and only inducted because of MJ?

Sorry... This is definitely racist.

Posted by O on Sunday, 04/26/2026 @ 14:51pm

O,

Let's not go THAT far. Jim C is probably coming from a very surface level look at the Jackson 5; they're a boy band with child singers. That's not very rock. Of course, non-rock acts have been getting inducted into the Hall of Fame since 1986, and I believe this should have been the Music Hall of Fame since the start.

Jim C can be annoying, but such a serious accusation is especially damaging.

Posted by The Towerman on Sunday, 04/26/2026 @ 15:52pm

Jim c you went too far your nothing but a racist prick and a jerk and if there was block button I'll block you really quick for being racist the Jackson 5 deserve to to be in the rock and roll hall of fame Michael Jackson does 2 Jim c also your too picky even pickier then Richie but Richie has an excuse he has autism and can be annoying sometimes but you Jim c you need to cool it on everything esp your racism before canceled dude I hate racist people

Posted by Joshua Hamilton on Sunday, 04/26/2026 @ 17:24pm

Listen to the records. They aren't that great. They were novel back in the 70s, but time has moved on and it doesn't hold up. Outside of the curiosity from Michael (They put a 8-9 songs from them on the 2-Disc Essential Michael Jackson album), they would be forgotten like the Osmonds.

Posted by Jim C. on Sunday, 04/26/2026 @ 19:11pm

Sorry Jim c not sorry Jim c you don't know good music I do the Jackson 5 have a bunch of good and great songs Michael Jackson is one of the best singers of all time he has a lot of hit songs listen to them Spotify doesn't matter as much like you Spotify is just one thing of many factors of who they nominate in the rock and roll hall of fame but not the main factor you got facts wrong about velvet underground as well there first record influenced a lot of bands and you Jim c won't listen to any of there songs or records because your closed minded and only think about Spotify and record sales not influence or other factors so your wrong wrong wrong again wrong way Jim c

Posted by Joshua Hamilton on Sunday, 04/26/2026 @ 19:33pm

Joshua Hamilton

Jim C just handpicks the data to support his favourites.

He is way more annoying than richie, at least richie has not been personally attacking music of any acts.

Posted by o on Sunday, 04/26/2026 @ 20:05pm

i know but jim c is more wrong his data more then 75 percent of the time he doesnt the rock and roll hall of fame like i do and some other people do in fact he wrong about facts then he is right and some of his facts are more made up then you realize

Posted by joshua hamilton on Sunday, 04/26/2026 @ 20:10pm

Jim C.,

The Jackson 5 were not just a novelty act. It certainly helped them become famous, but they had a profound impact on the sound of Motown and broke racial barriers in music. And on a purely commercial standpoint, they sold 100 million records worldwide, and their first 4 singles they released went #1. Their dancing alone inspired the entire current image of K-pop. They've held up well too, mostly because of Michael. But the reason he was able to get so big solo in the first place was because the Jackson 5 were already massive.

Posted by The Towerman on Sunday, 04/26/2026 @ 20:59pm

Great songs are lacking from the Jackson 5 and the Jacksons. Everyone is going down the rabbit hole because of the Michael movie and I really doubt people are going stick around listening to Jackson 5 stuff over Michael solo.

One of my main points is how certain acts all have sell-by dates and you need to induct as early as possible. I find the Jackson 5 stuff underwhelming today. If they had to get in now, it would probably be a struggle. They are getting around 20% of Michael Jackson's monthly Spotify listeners and really only two songs have big numbers.

Osmonds sold 77-100 million and have under a million Spotify listeners.

Posted by Jim C. on Sunday, 04/26/2026 @ 22:44pm

The Osmonds never had official claimed platinum album in America.

And "underwhelming" is subjective feeling. Osmonds are definitely on lower level than Jackson 5, even without MJ...
