She would've had a massive career if she continued to live as witnessed by artists like Ciara Nelly Furtado and others who have emulated her style and used her producers. I think she will get in because they seem to like black people who were notable in any way and she died young

The truth of the matter is Aaliyah is underrated and deserves much more credibility than she is already given. Aaliyah was not your typical Hip-Hop/Urban Pop musician by a long shot. She introduced new elements into the music industry and created her own sound of music while still remaining versatile. Her vocals were unique. Her dancing was smooth & effortless. Not to mention she was a stunning woman.

I have no intentions of putting down any other artists, but, I have yet to see any female artist truly match up to Aaliyah's pedastool. Example, Beyonce, an amazing performer on stage, fantastic vocalist, and fashion designer. However, can't act nowhere as good as good as Aaliyah. Examples #2 & 3, Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera. Greater vocalists than Aaliyah (in my opinion), however, could never dance as good as Aaliyah and never will.

Aaliyah was truly an innovator and along with a few other female artists opened the doors for musicians like Beyonce, Ciara, Nelly Furtado, Katy Perry, Rihanna and many more. She more than most deserves to be in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame.

It's so sad that she died as young as she did. Given a few more years, we really might have seen something well beyond extraordinary. While it might be cheap to say that she should be inducted because of her early death, she is forever recognized as a symbol of women in modern R&B, and a lot of artists contribute her career as an inspiration for their own. I think she truly deserves it.

Aaliyah absolutely deserves to be indicted. Obviously, her case will be special since she died with a 7 yr career. BUT, some research will show her 7 yr career holds ALOT of weight. She accomplished A LOT with only 3 albums, 26 singles, made Billboard history, youngest black female to perform at the Oscars and her post 2001 was predicted to be juggernaut with everything she had planned. And INFLUENCE, Aaliyah has influenced many artists from the current R&B singers, rappers, producers, rock artists and even artists in Japan. Aaliyah was a visionary artist, music excellence who was at her peak when she passed. But what she left, has been able to keep her relevant, honored and respected to this very minute. She even has haters now in 2015. She DEFINITELY deserves it

She deserves it, and also R.I.P. she was really talented, and had a great career despite releasing most of her work when only in her teens... I just wish she never made that music video for Rock The Boat or she'd still be with us.

She has no major impact on pop culture in general. Aaliyah is a perfect example of a mediocre artist who's death thrust her into the stratosphere. She was not even the best singer on her own tracks. She was a whisperer, her voice was soft, weak & bland. She was not a good performer. She had no stage presence, imo. She had no special sound. If she did, she got it from others. Y'all need to give more credit to those who helped her. Like R Kelly, Missy, Timbaland, etc. She's lucky because she had a good team/good producers/etc. There are artists who deserved it way more. If I just HAD to compare Aaliyah's whisper singing ass to anybody it would be Ciara. A lot of singers/artists were better. it was just the Timbo beats, that's it. Many people can outsing her and out dance her. I wish people would stop making Aaliyah out to be this extreme talent when she was not. She was alright but she was far from great. She was average at best. She's overrated. Point. Blank. Period.

No, she absolutely does NOT deserve to be inducted. & no, Aaliyah didn't open any doors for anybody. Stop with the delusion. & she wasn't even a great actress so why the hype now? Gloria, Madonna, Whitney & Janet opened all the doors. Aaliyah is one of the most overrated artists ever, imo. People give her career too much credit just because she died. She wasn't that good. Period.

If influence is a criteria, yes Aaliyah gets a nod, but it is taking Janet forever and has a bigger influence than Aaliyah. I'll vote for her, I was a fan. My vote in 2018 won the biggest vote, let's see if it will happen again this year. Aaliyah came out with this unique sound that kinda blends with certain rock sounds.

She deserves it. A lot of you are saying she didn't do a lot in her career, or affected anyone, but that's wrong. She was the first youngest black female to perform at the Oscars, the youngest female to go multi platinum, and even the first to go #1 on the billboard hot 100 based off of airplay.

PLEASE EDUCATE YOURSELF ON AN ARTIST BEFORE SAYING THEY'VE DONE NOTHING & OR DESERVES NOTHING. AT LEAST JUDGE BY THAT PERSON'S ENTIRE CATALOG & OVERALL INFLUENCE! With that being said, Aaliyah definitely deserves to be inducted! If you know anything about music, you'd know that she played a major role in shaping the sound of female hip hop & R&B in the early 90's with her debut album! She was one who took risk & if you doubt that then just listen to her 2nd release! Aaliyah fused r&b,hip hop,pop & funk making that album one of the most diverse & risky albums in r&b at that time, not to mention she was still a teenager! Most artist didn't take risk in their music until they were half her age, but that's neither here nor there. Aaliyah really pushed the envelope with her third album! She fused r&b, hip hop, industrial rock, & pop! Mind you she was the only female r&b at that time willing to take that risk making her the one to follow in the 2000's when it came to female r&b artist experimenting with different sounds & stepping outside of their comfort zone! Before anyone mentions Janet Jackson who was a fan of Aaliyah's btw (notice I said at that time, so please don't even & besides Janet was considered pop from the jump...I said r&b) anyway as of today so many artist follow Aaliyah's trail to shape their sound & style. I must
also mention her impact on fashion! Most r&b,hip-hop,pop artist would not have their look if they did not have Aaliyah's "street but sweet" style to emulate. Not even artist..but just girls around the world! Last but not least her impact on dance today! So many artist out in the last decade has shown influence of Aaliyah in their choreography, & or performance presence! All in all Aaliyah laid down a blueprint for an entire generation to follow, & that generation will pass that blueprint down to the next & it will go on & on & on because she was one in a million & should without a doubt be inducted! Even if she's not inducted her legacy will still be that of an icon, trailblazer, & legend! But I feel that the honor of her being a Rock & Roll hall of fame inductee is highly deserved!

Aaliyah should definitely be inducted into the RRHOF. If you listen to her self titled album before she passed away, she had evolved as an artist. The Aaliyah (2001 self-titled album) had Rock, R&B Soul, Techno, Pop, and Latin tracks. Aaliyah has recorded 3 full albums, numerous singles, has been on various movie soundtracks, and was on her way to becoming a triple threat - singer, model, actress. Her style was unlike anyone in the industry. She was an innovator for the smoky eye makeup style (which is still prevalent today), street but sweet style (sexy tomboy), edgy (hair over one eye), gothic (dark eyes and makeup), and couture (red album photos). Most artists couldn't embody different styles of fashion like her. Aaliyah's style is still inspiring generations today and she passed away 19 years ago. She definitely deserves to be inducted. It has been 25 years since her first album and I feel Aaliyah still doesn't get the credit she deserves.

Aww. That would be awesome. Big influence she was. But if Mariah hasn't gotten in yet, she will have to wait.
