Saw her at Bonnaroo. One of the most unusual sets I've ever seen. Bjork uses a drummer with full drum kit, a man with an array of synthesizers & a 14 person (all female) backing choir. If you told me they all had to be Iclandic virgins, it would not have surprised me.

She was dressed in what looked like a stainless steel christmas ornament (or cocktail party armour) & had this thing on her head that looked like a giant thistle, but clear instead of purple. You probably need to google her show & see it, as it is pretty hard to describe.

Only words (other than songs) I heard from her was 'thank you' and 'Tennessee'. She allowed no professional photos & had a big banner that asked no photos be taken. I did not comply.

She has a powerful voice.

I didn't realize she had been around that long, way before I was born! I'm sure she will get in sometime sooner or later. I also thought her work with the Sugarcubes was not that bad either.

Like Paul (in KY), I was there at Bonnaroo this year and what I saw was what he saw. Although I left after five songs because Bjork's voice I couldn't handle anymore.

She's done a lot of crazy stuff outside the music so that could give her some cred

Is it possible the committee has overlooked that 1977 album? Sixteen years is quite a gap between that and what was her first major solo release.
She's been a huge critical success, but never been very mainstream. So, that could hurt her to some degree.

Yeah, more than likely. Most of them probably don't know about it.

It's fair enough I suppose, Debut was essentially her "artistic" debut. She's pretty much disowned the 77 album, it's not even listed on her site's discography.

I think the RnRHoF will need to re-evaluate their methods. The most influencial/talented musical geniuses will never have the best air ratings simply because no radio will ever play her. That doesn't change the fact that any music critic will undoubtedly call her a genius. She has influenced countless other artists in multiple fields (musical and visual arts), often almost completely anonymously, and will leave a lasting mark on the musical landscape. Those modern radio-heavy artists with lots of airtime will be forgotten in a year. Would you induct Katie Perry just for the sake of her sales? True talent is not measured by sales.

Bjork is a true musical genius, no one else does what she does. She is more "Rock'n'Roll" (in terms of state of mind) than many already inducted artists. It would be a travesty if she was not inducted as soon as possible when she is eligible.

This could take a while before she is inducted. Looking at least 15 years from now. Too much backlog for the committee to get in the HOF of 70s glam/prog rock and funk bands not to mention the post-punk new wave bands from the 80s.

They will also get the bigger 90s acts in (Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Rage) before they get to Bjork. Even then I think her induction would be delayed due to the committee already satisfying their need to get a 90s alternative female solo artist in since Alanis Morrisitte will get in first

Regardless of how strange she may be when she is in the process of creating her artworks, one cannot simply discount her creativity. Her videos are very unusual, but her music is transcendent and often beautifully sublime. She just needs to have more bearded hairy lumberjacks in her videos pursued by a “Trillion Pomeranians!”

One Trillion Pomeranians, aka “Yip and Yap.” The vocals of actual Pomeranians accompanied by a 120 piece symphony orchestra and a 30 member choir. Imagine 150 Pomeranians for every single person on this planet being shipped out to other earth- like planets in the distant future. Would they evolve into the dominant form of intelligent life throughout our universe in a billion years? Discuss.

Had to do it for the laughs, but I’m having a hard time seeing her as one of the future female inductees. Like Kate Bush, most people - atleast here in the States - find her to be weird, not normal enough, and too obscure. As far I know, they want female figures who are very familiar to them in the HOF like Janet Jackson, the late Whitney Houston, Cher, Pat Benatar, and Barbra Streisand, to name many as I could.

Laura had enough support from the Nom Com and the voters. Bjork probably doesn’t have enough yet, but I have a feeling the Hall is now focusing more on bigger females figures. Maybe if we can get more alternative names sooner than what I’m expecting, her possibilities would increase.

I love Bjork and feel she definitely reached hall of fame worthy. The problem is she's too far removed from rock and pop and has been for most of her career. It is part of what makes her a great artist but also makes her isolating to a great number of people. She's famously earned 15 Grammy nods but never won.

Kate Bush, Massive Attack, Captain Beefheart, and Tori Amos aren't in but Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Frank Zappa, Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits are. Someone like Bjork is she's in a zone where she has a strong case for going in (especially her contributions to electronic music and music videos) but she's also in a zone many aren't interested in.

Her best bet is probably the Award for Musical Excellence.

Bjork is talentless garbage who receives acclaim for wearing stupid outfits and acting weird. Couldn't write a decent three-minute song if her life depended on it. Being "experimental" and "artistic" is waaay too easy.

Speaks volumes that she's best known for a cover version.

I disagree completely with this notion that Björk doesn't have talent. Now, I'm not the president of the Björk Fan Club. But I would never disrespect her artistic creativity, willingness to experiment with different styles of music, taking risks and pushing boundaries. In other words…Björk DOES NOT suck. (Pardon my French)

Take a closer look at her discography and what the critics had to say about her music. She earned a lot of respect and well-deserved praise for her work.

Just a dozen incredible works of art for anyone who wants to question how brilliant this woman was. With Kate bush, bjork is the next most important trailblazing alternative female pioneer. A shoe in.

I get that Bjork is not everyone's cup of tea. I dismissed her music for decades as too odd. Then recently saw a live performance on YouTube and was like wow this woman has a hell of a strong voice. Now I am obsessed. Some of her more recent music is harder to get into but her first 4 albums are pretty solid. Volta took several listens but now it's one of my favorites. I don't think artists like Bjork really give a rat's ass about the Hall of Fame. She is her own genre

Got to agree with Geordie I'm afraid. Bjork gets away with murder (i.e. terrible music) because she's attractive and plays the eccentric. Someone above compared her to Kate Bush, but Bush at one time wrote incredible, moving, relatable songs. Bjork just does artsy rubbish, kind of like Radiohead did after Thom Yorke realised he just couldn't write great songs anymore and went all experimental to divert attention from it.
