31 comments so far (post your own)Carole King gave the induction speech for songwriters Jesse Stone, Mort Shuman, Otis Blackwell, Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil, Ellie Greenwich, and Jeff Barry in 2010, she gave the induction speech for producer, promoter and publisher Don Kirshner in 2012, and she performed for 2013 inductee, Lou Adler, who produced her album, Tapestry. Should we be reading anything into all of this. Is Carole King going to get a second induction? Posted by Roy on Sunday, 04/21/2013 @ 22:41pm |
Still think she should get IN Posted by Happy on Thursday, 09/19/2013 @ 23:16pm |
Carole King performed last night at the Grammys. Yes, put her in the HOF, if only as a songwriter. Posted by Cokey on Monday, 01/27/2014 @ 20:19pm |
Because this board at one point had a problem with getting flooded with spam messages. Adding that security question actually helps prevent that. You wouldn't think so, but the only people who couldn't answer that question are either spam robotic accounts or brain-dead idiots, like the Steve Perry faithful. Way Past Due! If anyone is deserving . She is the one..No explanation needed. Posted by Drrock on Wednesday, 02/21/2018 @ 22:31pm |

The honor of being the first female to be inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should go to Carole King or Tina Turner, not Stevie Nicks. Maybe Stevie Nicks' induction is preparation for Carole King and Tina Turner? Posted by Roy on Sunday, 11/11/2018 @ 09:21am |
Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Carole King, all need second inductions before Stevie Nicks! Posted by Roy on Saturday, 11/17/2018 @ 13:22pm |
Why do any of those you mentioned deserve a2nd induction? Posted by Zuzu on Saturday, 11/17/2018 @ 13:39pm |

If Stevie Nicks can get in twice, Carole deserves it. Her performing career was a distinctly different arc than her brilliant early 60s songs with Goffin and should be recognized as such. Posted by Daniel on Wednesday, 12/26/2018 @ 17:42pm |
Considering that the Hall of Fame loves "big", you would think that the bigness of Tapestry's success would have guaranteed her induction. Most likely they feel that her induction as a songwriter is enough for now. They don't want to waste a valuable slot on someone who's already in the Hall of Fame. Ummmm...Yes to Carole King. Aside from her songwriting skills, she released 7 albums of her music that went gold, platinum or multi platinum. She also arranges her own songs and plays piano and some guitar even. She is one of the early singer/songwriters and to boot. In 1961 she had a hit with "I Wish it Would Rain Until September". Finally, no other artist of the 70s along with maybe James Taylor, Cat Stevens, (they are in already in) and Carly Simon, defined the entire "singer songwriter era" than she did. Carole King should be in the HOF as a singer. Her Tapestry album was one of the best selling albums of all time and spent years on the charts. She has a Presidential Award and a successful Broadway play, but is still not in the hall of fame as a singer. There are quite a few artists in the hall that don't stack up to her career in music. Carole King and Ike and Tina Turner were both nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, and they both lost. Posted by Roy on Friday, 04/2/2021 @ 19:53pm |
Carole King should be in the HOF for her writing and her Music. She has sold over 50 million albums. This hall is a not a true representation of music but of a popularity contest. How many people in the hall have sold more than 50 million albums or had an album like her "Tapestry" album, on the billboard 200 charts for 300 Weeks and also was ranked #25 by Rolling Stone on their list of top 500 albums Posted by Charlie on Monday, 04/12/2021 @ 18:21pm |

Will Carole King Perform in Cleveland for the 2021 Rock Hall Induction? Posted by Roy on Sunday, 05/16/2021 @ 13:19pm |
I don't get the negative comments concerning carole king's albums significance. Her subsequent albums past tapestry may not be to your liking, however as their content is not what makes them relevant even more today. No the relevance of her chart topping albums is that she was the first female performer to have more than 1 number one best selling album on billboard's hot 100 albums this significance made the record label executive convinced that a woman could have enough staying power as a man in being able to write, arrange, produce and sing several best selling albums over a period of years. This is why prior to carole king, women did not get the big record contracts and promotional deals that men and male bands did., since women were not seen as being able to do that without the dominance of a male influence and supervision. After carole king broke that glass ceiling, women began getting record contracts on an equal look level with their male counterparts. The first 2 women acts to benefit from carole kings album success were a sister rock band called heart and a disco singer known as donna summer. So subsequently, all the female acts following carole king, including the go go's have carole king to thank for their success. So to every one of you carole king haters, how many men can you say accomplished some similar feats. Thanks carole king Posted by David Gress on Monday, 07/12/2021 @ 20:59pm |
I am so happy for Carole King and Tina Turner! Both are creative artists and have wonderful albums. I agree Carole opened the door for dozens of women to find recording success and writing. Congratulations! Posted by Grandma Kari on Wednesday, 10/13/2021 @ 09:01am |
