Absolutely. Reinventing what was left of grunge, applying melodic rhythm and old-school rock'n'roll to it, and making it into something HUGE. Almost 20 years and not yet a nostalgic act(far from it).
Influenced: Disturbed, 3 Doors Down, All-American Rejects, Fall Out Boy, Plain White-T's, OK Go's, and Paramore.

I haven't really listened to the Foo Fighters but I think they will make it because:

1. It proved Dave Grohl could play more than drums
2. They opened up a new sound for alternative
3. They have inspired Muse, Coldplay, 3 Doors Down, and Queens of the Stone Age
4. They have longevity (getting nominated for album of the year 17 years after your fist record? If that isn't longevity I don't know what is)

I will be shocked if they don't get in after their first two tries

foo fighters is my favorite band and i dont know if im saying they should just get in because i like them, but i know im not the only one who thinks they should get in. dave grohl is a great man and song writer and he and the whole band knows how to get a crowd pumped. they should deffinately get in in 2021. for sure.

Gramps, have seen The Foos twice now (Voodoo Fest & Hangout) and must say they are one Hell of a band live. Dave & the gang go at it hard every show. Hope you get to see them sometime.

Right now, after the busted ankle & show-must-go-on, I would say they are a 1st ballot lock.

Yes, talk about about changing the influence in rock, we had nothing but bands singing about how they're not understood And you hurt my feelings To in your face not going to take it no more true rock anthems that told if you don't like it too bad!! Bands that followed ei breaking Benjamin, three doors down, Seether just to name a few. They helped clear a path from the grunge

I see them going in at first eligibility in 2020. Dave Grohl will end up as possibly the only multiple inductee inducted on first eligibility twice. Even Page and Clapton haven't pulled that. (Clapton is the only 3X inductee. It's possible that he will get a 4th with Blues Breakers... And McCartney will get his 3rd for Wings and Harrison for Traveling Wilburys.) Actually Zep is the only one of their bands to go in on first eligibility. Not Yardbrds or Cream... Talk about INSANE (If any additional proof of the wanker level at the selection committee for the HoF.)

Regardless of whether they're first ballot. They'll get in. I want to know who inducts them. Tenacious D? Royal Blood? Cage the Elephant? QOTSA?Jack White? Or is it Kiss guy Pearce and Collier the kid from KC.

A side question, while Dave hasn't done anything solo with the exception of "Play", could he be a triple inductee for everything else he's done in music? He's got the documentaries. He's drummed for QOTSA, Probot, Them crooked vultures, Tenacious D, nine inch Nails, and pretty much anyone else that asks or needs a drummer. Like when Cage the Elephant's drummer had his appendix removed so Dave drummed for his opener.

Actually, Dave had done a solo project long before "Play." He once put out a cassette album called Pocketwatch under the name "Late" and even made an earlier version of "Friend of a Friend."

Pat Smear is one of the most overlooked artists in the Foo Fighters. He was in the Germs, Nirvana, and now the Foo Fighter, et al. He keeps his personal live private, is low drama, is beloved by all who have worked with him, and avoids the spotlight. He can play anything. Listen to him at the rock and roll hall of fame playing Cobain's parts perfectly, and just playing though snubbed as part of them. His screaming guitar and signature rhythm riffs define the Foo Fighters instrumentation. He and Grohl are the essence of what is the best rock and roll act left. Their concerts are still amazing.

Just to say that straight out FF and Dave they are the band that is still active that is keeping Rock alive.
I've been a fan myself the whole time but now I see my daughter being a fan also and all here friends that normally listen to some shit then I know they deserve a spot in the hall.

FF is the reason for many og the young people today are listening to Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Rush and many many more.

My most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Taylor Hawkins on his tragic, unfortunate and unexpected passing. I know that Dave Grohl must have been completely devastated by his death; the two of them had been very much like brothers. Although, the now late Taylor Hawkins and Dave Grohl had inducted Queen in 2001; they had also inducted Rush into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2013. I will always remember Rush's induction, although I chose not to attend this particular event.
