One of the last bands in history that played real rock n' roll. Guns N' Roses definitely deserve it!

Missed my possible only chance to see GNR play in my home city. Many of you probably remember the 'Riverport Riot' incident which happened on July 3, 1991 outside St. Louis. This was when Axl stopped in the middle of 'Rocket Queen' and threatened a man who was taking pictures of him. A video of the incident exists on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkec02UjybE

A riot later broke out, and a year later Axl was charged for it. I was only 9 years old at the time, so I was too young I guess to be there. Welp, last Thursday (7/27/2017) marked the first time Axl and most of the classic GNR lineup did their first show in St. Louis. I heard he made no mention of the riot, but supposedly he made two references of it! (Axl had repeatedly dissed STL, especially in the liner notes of both Use Your Illusion albums) But apparently Axl had made amends with the city of St. Louis. I've always heard Axl is a very cool guy to be around, and one of the most brilliant. This is just from insiders. For some reason, I can picture that. But yeah, he can also be a, well, you know.

GNR played in my area last week. A preview in a local newspaper describes them perfectly:

Guns N' Roses is a lot like that ex who calls you every couple of years to catch up (borrow money), each time from a new phone number, each time more manic than the last. Yet, you still take the call -- because at least it's never boring. Sure, GNR's rolodex of membership is as vast as their appetite for destruction. However, 2016 introduced a new era of GNR: reliable and unbreakable. Welcome to 2017's Paradise City, population: Dizzy, Duff, Slash and Axl. They're back, bloated, and ready to blow our minds.

Just for some much needed levity, thought I'd share a parody that I once began to create. I was doing a field trip of sorts to houses of worship for religions differing from my own. One of them was a Hindu temple, and it had a sign that simply said, "Welcome to The temple." Reminded me of the GNR classic, and I now have to wonder, how would have gone down if they had been a religious rock band of sorts? I think the first verse might have gone a little something like this:

Welcome to the temple,
Come kneel down and pray!
Pray for your enlightenment,
That you may know the way.
Come for restoration
Of your immortal soul.
Come here for forgiveness,
That you may be made whole
In the temple.
Welcome to the temple
Come get down upon your
Sha-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-KNEES! KNEES!

Ooh, I'm gonna watch you plead!
