Like I said, all six original members of Heart are pictured on the Rock Hall's bio page for Heart, and they are all mentioned in the bio as well. As for Mark Andes and Denny Carmassi, they will be mentioned in the rest of the bio once it is completed. Heart's self-titled 1985 album with Andes and Carmassi on the cover was featured in the Rock Hall's 2013 Nominees video. I'm guessing this is a sign they will be inducted as well.

Actually, I just checked the Rock Hall page. The bios are complete now, but no mention of Andes or Carmassi anywhere.

All 8 members of Heart were mentioned on VH1 Behind the Music, but only the original 6 members were interviewed. Chris Cornell of Soundgarden was interviewed as well, as was Kelly Curtis, the manager for Pearl Jam. Since Heart will be performing, there is no need for a woman to give the induction speech or perform for them. It could be Chris Cornell or Eddie Vedder giving the induction speech for Heart.

Mark Andes and Denny Carmassi were a big part of Heart's 80s comeback hits: These Dreams, Never, What About Love, Alone, All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You. They performed on all the Heart albums from 1983 to 1993. They should be included in the induction. I hope the Rock Hall uses The Eagles and Guns N' Roses as an example when choosing the inductees for Heart. Andes and Carmassi deserve induction.

Yes, there are 14 members of Heart to consider, but only 8 of them from Heart's heydays who can seriously be considered. The 6 original members, plus Andes and Carmassi who were both with Heart for 10 years, which is longer than the number of years that 3 of the 4 original male members of Heart were with the group: Roger Fisher (4 years), Steve Fossen (6 years), and Michael DeRosier (6 years). 23 years for Howard Leese.

Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins will be inducting Rush, not Heart. This means the presenter for Heart could be Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, Eddie Veder of Pearl Jam, Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains, Elton John, Bernie Taupin, Stevie Nicks or Sheryl Crow.

Posted by Roy on Wednesday, 01/23/2013 @ 08:38am

Elton John and Bernie Taupin are both mentioned and pictured with Heart in Heart's new autobiography.

Maybe Gwen Stefani or Shirley Manson

Maybe Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Cyndi Lauper?

Posted by Roy on Wednesday, 01/23/2013 @ 11:58am

Actually, it would make perfect sense if Led Zeppelin inducted Heart, since Heart performed for Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center Honors.

Led Zeppelin for Heart! Done!

Pat Benatar did once call Heart, "Led Zeppelin with breasts."

If Carmassi and Andes are not inducted that would really suck since their faces were shown in the Rock Hall's 2013 nominees video.

Andes and Carmassi are not being inducted. Heart fans and their fans need to speak up to the RRHOF and to the sisters to step up. I say go to the guys facebook accounts and get something started!

How do you know they are not being inducted?

Posted by Roy on Thursday, 01/24/2013 @ 06:36am

Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson join Carole King, Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Dusty Springfield, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, Bonnie Raitt, Chrissie Hynde, Deborah Harry, Patti Smith and Wanda Jackson as women of Rock in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Are Ann and Nancy Wilson as deserving as the rest? If Heart had been an all male group, they would have faded away a long time ago. Howard Leese, Steve Fossen, Roger Fisher, and Michael DeRosier are lucky too be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because without Ann and Nancy Wilson, they would have been forgotten. As far as the personal relationships and drama between the male and female members of Heart, it wasn't as well known to the public as that of the members of Fleetwood Mac.

Original members of Heart to perform together at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Update on the original lineup story:

Statements from the Heart Camp on their official bulletin board: “The Heart Camp will not confirm if this is or not happening yet. It’s too early. The problem with this is Roger announced it before it was approved or finalized. It’s not finalized. [...] Roger shouldn’t have stated this.”

And we have the following quote from a Heartmonger on the official bulletin board: “Hey everyone – Roger addressed the rumor on a Seattle radio station this a.m. Basically, he said to play together has not been decided yet but the good news is that after all these years the original members of Heart are at least talking.”

Nancy on March 4th or 5th 2013 [skip to 14:25]: Q: What lineup is being inducted? Nancy: "The original lineup of guys are Roger Fisher Mike DeRosier and Howard Leese". [she doesn't mention Steve Fossen, by accident probably] Q: Will you play with them? "Oh yeah. We are making it as comfortable as we can for them". "We not gonna, you know, allow it to become like a reunion though, I mean that's where we kinda draw the line there". "Cause we have to represent ourselves in the present. We have to represent ourselves between the present and the past as well, so we'll do one thing with them and they can say their say. And it'll be good".

Their induction next week comes in perfect timing. Just think about all of the greatness Seattle has given us, starting with Jimi Hendrix. And with the possible induction of Nirvana next year, comes Heart in between. I was just listening to the Sony comp 'The Essential Heart' and some of their forgotten tracks (like 'This Man Is Mine' and 'There's The Girl') have brought back memories. Of course, we have all questioned why so late. But I always say, 'Better late than never...', especially when there are more bands/acts wanting to get in the HOF. Can't wait to do a tribute to them this weekend on my radio show.

If the Red Hot Chili Peppers could make Josh Klinghoffer get inducted with the group, why couldn't Ann and Nancy tell the Rock Hall they want Carmassi and Andes inducted with Heart. Didn't they know they could do that?

The Rock Hall listened to Jerry Garcia.

The Wilson Sisters are OK but they don't hold a candle to performers like Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Katy Perry and Brittany Spears. Roger Fisher was pretty good and Fossen was vastly under-rated.

Posted by Vic Torino on Thursday, 08/15/2013 @ 17:58pm

Oh please, Vic! All the singers you listed are hacks! Big Brother & The Holding Company, Heart, Jefferson Airplane, The Pretenders and Pat Benatar are way better in my opinion. I'll take The Wilson Sisters and Janis Joplin over Madonna any day.

Pushing the original members out and replacing them with studio musicians badly hurt the case for Heart to be inducted costing them 11 years of waiting. I hope Ann and Nancy think it was worth it.

RRHOF Judge,

I'm sure they thought it was worth the 11 year wait. The original band had run it's course (did you hear their last album together, Private Audition? It's horrible).

If the current version of Heart hadn't re-formed and been touring/recording the last 12 years, then the band never would have gotten inducted in the first place. They were all but forgotten until they reformed and got the VH1 Honors award before releasing a Top 10 album in 2010 (Red Velvet Car).

2 'Heart' Members Accuse Hall Of Fame Of Defaming Them
By Kelly Knaub

Law360, New York (May 16, 2014, 8:08 PM ET) -- Former members of the band Heart Mark Andes and Dennis Carmassi sued the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation in Pennsylvania state court Tuesday for only inducting Heart's original lineup from the 1970s but not the additional 1980s members. Andes and Carmassi claim that although Heart's most public members, Ann and Nancy Wilson, asked the foundation to correct its mistake and include the two members in the 2013 induction, it refused without giving a reason. The Hall of Fame, however, proceeded to use their images.

Can Mark Andes and Dennis Carmassi actually make the court force the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to induct them? The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame would have to post an apology on their website, list Andes' and Carmassi's names as inductees on Heart's Rock Hall biography page on the internet, and mail Andes and Carmassi their Rock Hall trophies.

Actually, Mark Andes and Dennis Carmassi are not asking to be inducted.

Posted by Roy on Tuesday, 05/20/2014 @ 10:21am

Former members of the band Heart Mark Andes and Dennis Carmassi sued the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation in Pennsylvania state court Tuesday for only inducting Heart's original lineup from the 1970s but not the additional 1980s members. Andes and Carmassi claim that although Heart's most public members, Ann and Nancy Wilson, asked the foundation to correct its mistake and include the two members in the 2013 induction, it refused without giving a reason. The Hall of Fame, however, proceeded to use their images.

When their fans around the world congratulated the two after seeing their images and songs used by the Hall of Fame, Andes and Carmassi say they were humiliated by having to inform their fans and peers that they were inexplicably not chosen for induction.

The pair is not asking the Hall of Fame to induct them but is suing it for portraying them in a false light, misappropriating their name and likeness, and for defamation.

“Defendants knowingly and maliciously communicated to the public by implication that plaintiffs were not valuable members of the band Heart when it failed to induct them, but concomitantly used plaintiffs' images and song performances to promote the band's nomination and induction,” the complaint said.

Andes and Carmassi say they wrote a letter to the Hall of Fame in January 2013, asking why they were excluded and pointed out that its biography for Heart extensively references Heart's success in the 1980s, including its four Grammy nominations, to which they contributed heavily.

The Hall of Fame's CEO [Joel Peresman] responded the following day, defending the decision and ignoring the fact that the Hall of Fame was using the band's success with Andes and Carmassi, the artists say.

The pair has also brought additional counts of injurious falsehood and equitable relief.

The duo is seeking compensatory damages for all losses, treble damages on all trademark claims, punitive damages and exemplary damages.

The Rock Hall doesn't think much of Heart's 80s-90s work. 2012-2013 was the year of the Woman at the Rock Hall and they needed to nominate Rock women, just because they are women. There was no one bigger than Ann and Nancy Wilson as far as women of rock who were not yet in the Rock Hall. The Rock Hall didn't really want to induct all the original male members of Heart. Notice how Jann Wenner referred to them as Ann and Nancy's back-up band at the induction ceremony. Basically, Heart was inducted because of Ann and Nancy Wilson, because it was the year of the Woman. Andes and Carmassi never had a chance.

Posted by Roy on Tuesday, 05/20/2014 @ 16:02pm

You know, I hope this lawsuit does prove to be a landmark thing for the RRHOF groups whose members were not inducted. Members, that is, for the right reasons. I'm still wondering why Josh from the RHCP was inducted and not later members of KISS and other bands. Same goes for Chad Channing. Even though they're not necessarily asking to be inducted, I hope this gets the Hall to think twice who and what to include in the future.
