this is the biggest slight! appearantly the british heavy metal movement was not Influential to all current crops of hard rock bands---you choose to induct bands like metallica but pass on bands like MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST,AND MOTORHEAD, whose rock and roll presence birthed the very bands you choose to induct?? I'm pretty sure most true music fans could make a list of bands you've omitted for god knows why that would rival those already in. Posted by arthur jones on Tuesday, 03/5/2013 @ 18:25pm |

Literally the only band who can bring me to my knees. Their music is of the highest technical quality, songwriting is unsurpassed, and NOBODY can bring it live like Maiden...if you've seen a Maiden show you might as well stop going to concerts because you will never see anything like it ever again...you've seen the best there is. That said, will they get into the Hall? I guess the answer is that it probably matters very little to this group of fine gentlemen who seem hell-bent on staying true to their music, themselves, and above all else - their long-time, fiercely loyal, and rabid fan base. If they are eventually inducted, I will be front and center in Cleveland giving them the applause they deserve for their impeccable integrity and righteous path they have never deviated from to arrive there. Up the irons! Posted by Gary on Tuesday, 11/12/2013 @ 12:20pm |
Iron Maiden was one of the greatest 80's Metal bands. They picked up steam after replacing their singer with Bruce Dickinson which was one of the best moves in the history of music.Stevie Nicks & Lindsay Buckingham joining Fleetwood Mac too. Posted by KING on Tuesday, 02/25/2014 @ 16:57pm |
They should have been inducted a long time ago... wait, they're british. Posted by BulmaPunkRocker on Sunday, 07/6/2014 @ 23:15pm |
IRON MAIDEN should be the type of band RRHOF enjoys and inducts. With little radio airplay on major stations and few Top 40 hits, Iron Maiden let their music do the talking. Awesome live shows and outstanding musicianship. Think my ears are still ringing from that Seventh Son concert years ago. They have influenced 100's of metal bands and rock bands since. Their smartest decision was hiring Bruce Dickinson as singer in early 80's. His soaring voice to the already excellent music made Iron Maiden unbeatable. It would be difficult to say my FAV Iron Maiden song but my Top 3 would be Flight of Icaraus, Wasted Years, The Trooper in some order. I'm hoping Deep Purple gets inducted in 2016 and Judas Priest in 2017. Iron Maiden might receive nomination in 2018, 2019, or 2020. KING Posted by KING on Saturday, 09/12/2015 @ 19:53pm |

Saw Iron Maiden the other night for the first time. I'll admit it, I was there for mostly the opening act, Ghost. I'll also admit that I'm not much of a fan of Iron Maiden, let's just say they were alright. Look, I am familiar with their colossal impact on hard rock and metal, and I'm pretty sure within the next few years they'll get in the Hall. It will be very interesting to see which band from the hard-rock/metal genre will be next. Could be Motley Crue, Judas Priest (I'm betting on them) or Iron Maiden. I'd love to add any of those bands to my "Bands in the RRHOF I've seen" list. Posted by Jason Voigt on Saturday, 07/15/2017 @ 08:05am |
If they are not inducted into the Rock and roll HOF then just shut it down and end the foolishness. They are epitome of what excellence in musicianship is about. As influential as any band since the Beatles, one of the greatest live bands world wide, and sold over 100 million records, how are they not already in???? Posted by David on Thursday, 12/14/2017 @ 15:07pm |
I voted that they they won't get inducted. But, they should be along with King Crimson are the two biggest snubs so far. Iron Maiden > Metallica. I like them both, but Iron Maiden paved the way for Metallica. Posted by Maclavee on Friday, 06/15/2018 @ 00:28am |
Of all the hard rock, metal, and even the prog bands in the HOF so far, we just need Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Foreigner, Jethro Tull, Bad Company, Boston, and Scorpions first; that should be enough for IM to get in. Posted by The Dude on Friday, 06/15/2018 @ 09:37am |
Dude, gotta say (IMO) that only Judas Priest & maybe Def Leppard should go before The Maiden from your list above. Posted by Paul in KY on Friday, 06/15/2018 @ 16:44pm |

I think Judas Priest, now that they've been on the ballot, will be the next "metal project" and I think they'll get in either this upcoming year or shortly thereafter. Once they're in, I think Iron Maiden wouldn't be far behind, and I agree that Maiden will probably get in within 2-3 years of their first nomination at most. Why don't they just change it to the music hall of fame. They forgot about ROCK & ROLL a long time ago. It's an embarrassment bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Bad Company have been snubbed for so long. At this point I don't even feel that the Hall should have the privilege of having the likes of these great bands grace their so called Rock & Roll hall of fame. Perhaps a real Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should be created where the fans get to vote in the bands base on the correct music genre. Posted by Steve on Sunday, 07/1/2018 @ 03:03am |

Iron Maiden lack of a RRHOF nomination is mystifying because they check off all the boxes. Influence-YES! Musical Excellence-YES! Innovation-YES! Longevity-YES! I would be hard-pressed to think of a greater band than Iron Maiden. Hopefully, Def Leppard's Induction soon will move Iron Maiden to the Top Of The Line in 2019. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Scorpions should all be on the ballot in 2019. There's not many groups honestly that could compete with their talent. 4000 votes, 78% said yes, and they'll get in after these bands, so they could enough votes for an induction: Motley Crue, Jethro Tull, Foreigner, Boston, Bad Company, and Judas Priest. Posted by The Dude on Friday, 05/24/2019 @ 11:35am |

They might just need one more nomination so I expect them to be inducted as performers not AME, that category would also go to Motorhead & Ronnie James Dio. Posted by Jordan Einstein on Friday, 05/6/2022 @ 08:06am |
When I talk about bands that belong in with people in real life Iron Maiden seems to be the front runner. This website claims 32% chance same as Thin Lizzy. My old list of bands that should be in but are not in was Deep Purple and Yes. They are both in. I expect Iron Maiden to get in and they should have gotten in prior to The Cars. Only 7 albums granted the first 2 were near perfect. Posted by zrocker on Saturday, 09/24/2022 @ 04:09am |
Moving forward, I think heavy metal acts are getting pushed through the side door. It's clear the voters don't care about heavy metal. Posted by Garrick on Thursday, 09/29/2022 @ 14:55pm |

I have seen Iron Maiden over 30 times and they are the major influence on so many bands that have come along. I listen to all kinds of music from hip hop to rap country spanish opera classical and many more and iron maiden is the best band .their music has emotions and their shows are like stories and the music and the stories go so well together. They should have been in long ago,so many musicians owe their music to influences like Iron Maiden.every show you will see different generations of people, young kids, teens and older people alike just singing and jammin with the band.their music has evolved over the years and they still sell out crowds. Iron Maiden have been a driving force in metal for over 4 decades. Their melodic brand of metal is unparalleled by any other metal band with the exception of Metallica (who is in the hall). Posted by Shawn Roberts on Friday, 07/14/2023 @ 13:00pm |
I was at the hall 2 years ago and voted for Iron Maiden to inducted was very disappointed that who ever does the balloting or decides who goes in this Hall of Fame doesn't have a clue what real rock and roll is maiden is the best metal band ever they shouldn't be snubbed by who ever runs the hall Posted by William Franks on Friday, 07/14/2023 @ 14:34pm |
This is one of those things where it's like wow how can this be? The fact that Iron Maiden aren't Rock in Roll Hall of Famers is literally disrespectful and completely unbelievable but I should believe right because Iron Maiden not being Hall of Famers is a thing, with that said If someone comes out and says Iron Maiden was great with the mainstream then I would say I agree but that's at least arguable you know in terms of the radio and lack of crazy Rap and Pop music like numbers we see today. What is inarguable is the fact that Iron Maiden have not only lived up to expectations they have so far exceeded those that it isn't even funny it's crazy what these guys have done by the way without the help of radio play. These guys have so many well known songs so many iconic songs that it just gets to be embarrassing for other groups it really does and also Iron Maiden along with the close to 100 million (so we think) records that they have sold and the I believe 14 million tickets they have sold they also are considered by many including Lars Ulrich himself to be Metallica's biggest influence literally Iron Maiden was Metallica's biggest influence, you know the band that literally became inarguable the biggest Metal band of all time and by far. That looks really good for Iron Maiden as far as I'm concerned, by the way guys they were influenced by early Iron Maiden we are not even talking prime Iron Maiden which was when Bruce came along and were even better at least I don't think that the Iron Maiden after the Paul Di'anno era was the band Lars was talking about he was talking about a "weak" era of theirs I put that in quotes for a reason because it wasn't weak it's just "weak" because it doesn't compare to their albums starting with The Number of the Beast and on. Let me say this too, the first 13 minute Metal not rock but Metal song ever was Rime of the Ancient Mariner tell me I'm wrong literally no one had done that before Iron Maiden the 13 minute Metal song I mean seriously what an accomplishment by the way that song alone is widely regarded as one of the absolute finest songs in all of Metal. Guys also I don't know If you realize this but If you stick around for almost 50 years up til this point you have done something right. Iron Maiden have stood the test of time and have not only influenced Metallica but what that means is is that without Iron Maiden I mean what would Metal be? How many bands wouldn't be here including Metallica (the Metallica we know because Iron Maiden existed looking back at it in Heinz sight, yes they might have still existed but they wouldn't have been the same you guys know what I mean when I say that Metallica and bands of the last 40 years would not be here). How many bands that we know them now to be would not be here If it wasn't for Iron Maiden? Hall of Fame crew do me a favor answer that one and tell me they aren't Hall of Famers with a straight face. By the way, statistics back these guys up anyways even the new biased media against metal and Iron Maiden stats support my argument guys they have (according to Spotify) over 8 songs with over 100 millions streams on Spotify. EIGHT with their top songs being the Trooper (390 million as of now), Run to the Hills (340 million as of now), Fear of the Dark (300 million as of now), and so on. Those stats are incredible and by the way in terms of overall statistics as well as streams that means that these amazing bands are beat out by Iron Maiden: Def Leppard, Dio, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, Judas Priest, Helloween, Korn, Parkway Drive, In Flames, King Diamond, Dream Theater, Amon Amarth, Dragonforce, Primal Fear, Black Veil Brides, Asking Alexandria, Diamondhead, Tygers of Pan Tang and many many others. Iron Maiden are also one of If not the greatest live band of all time and are a band that has their own sound. No one sounds like them Iron Maiden are truly one of a kind. They have colossal creativity, and a lot of resilience against the naysayers and are one of the most loyal bands to their fan base the world has ever known. These guys are a walking masterpiece of a band they are my all time favorite band along with Metallica and I cannot express to you how much it disgusts me that they are not Hall of Famers but they are bound to be because people like me will make sure of it. These guys are inarguabley a first ballad Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band no matter how you slice it other than maybe radio play or things that they might have said but about the people who vote bands in for the Hall of Fame. There is no debate Iron Maiden deserves to be in and I can't wait to see them and that crowd reaction they're going to get If they get in. Thank you Iron Maiden for what you have done in my life and in I'm sure at this point billions of others lives since you guys have toured the world hundreds of times and have written non stop classics, great songs that aren't old enough to be classics but would be classics If they were old enough, and or masterpieces. Iron Maiden are a first ballad Hall of Fame band and there is no debate what is debatable is If they are the greatest Metal band ever but we can get into that another day. Lets start making these people look silly Iron Maiden fans can we do that? If so then let's do it. Up the Irons! Posted by Justice on Wednesday, 11/15/2023 @ 09:42am |
Also I would like to know who voted no. I hope that's just a prediction. If you are saying no because you don't believe Iron Maiden are a Hall of Fame band then you are sadly mistaken. Iron Maiden are clearly a first ballad Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band. There is a reason why the vast majority voted yes on this there is no debate. Posted by Justice on Wednesday, 11/15/2023 @ 11:36am |
If anybody wants to debate me on If Iron Maiden should be a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Band then I would be honored. Bring it on but I'm warning you now you will lose! Posted by Justice on Wednesday, 12/20/2023 @ 18:18pm |
Don't worry, Justice. I completely agree with you 100%. A Rock & Roll Hall of Fame without Iron Maiden is one of the biggest travesties in this world. Posted by Johnny on Wednesday, 12/20/2023 @ 21:12pm |
You know what's messed up Johnny is I didn't even get into the amount of great songs they have did you know Iron Maiden doesn't have one song with under 1 million listens on Spotify not one they have almost 200 songs in their history surely their would be one that doesn't have 1 million right well they would be wrong. I'm so glad you agree with me as you said 100% on this. I also didn't say this part clearly but they just have so many great songs and albums as well I didn't even get into that. I love every single Iron Maiden song personally but I understand some weren't historically impacteful like the ones with just 1 million listens but a lot of their songs are well-known you know. I'm glad you agree with me. Posted by Justice on Monday, 01/22/2024 @ 14:02pm |
I think that Iron Maiden should definitely be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They have been around since 1975, and have made many albums. The Number of the Beast album that was released in 1982 had 2 hit songs, Run to the Hills and The Number of the Beast. It also had song titled Hallowed by Thy Name. The following album, Piece of Mind was released on 1983, and had another 2 hits songs, titled Flight of Icarus and The Trooper. Posted by John D. Glen on Tuesday, 01/30/2024 @ 22:00pm |
Iron Maiden needs to be inducted once Ozzy is inducted this year. Iron Maiden is a global metal institution who keep putting out great music every album. Iron Maiden are The Rolling Stones of heavy metal, whereas so many metal bands their age have fallen by the wayside, Maiden is stronger than ever. The talent that each member has is insane. But nope Iron Maiden is not on there list, but Ozzy is in twice I grew up with Ozzy Black Sabbath Led Zep and Maiden and Ozzy as much as i like he's music he is far out now his time as past he's now to rest but Iron Maiden are still rolling for god sake.
