10 comments so far (post your own)The Fugees have a decent chance of getting in, but I doubt Lauryn Hill will make it in on her one album. Posted by Marth on Monday, 01/21/2013 @ 18:05pm |
Saw Ms. Lauryn Hill perform at Loufest this weekend. As expected, she was late getting on stage (20 minutes!). It was a great show though, and she can still rap! Hard to believe she's been on the scene for more than 2 decades now, off and on. Ms. Hill has quite a strange history. Unfortunately, for her these days its kind of negative due to her reputation now as one of the worst people to work with, among other things. Posted by Jason Voigt on Tuesday, 09/13/2016 @ 12:23pm |
If the sex pistols could do it, then there is absolutely no reason that Ms. Lauryn hill shouldn't be inducted. She released one of the most influential RnB and Hip-Hop albums of all time, that within the recent months of me writing this, has gone certified diamond. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill should easily put Ms. Hill in. Posted by Josh on Tuesday, 03/9/2021 @ 08:50am |
In order to make into the hall, it takes a "body" of work. Lauryn Hill only has 1 album, putting her in the hall on that 1 album would be a bad decision. Posted by Elgin Edmonds on Wednesday, 04/7/2021 @ 13:47pm |
Lauryn Hill has made huge impact regardless of only have one solo studio album. If you also take into consideration their are bands in the hall with only one influential album or only one or two albums in their discography then Hill easily makes the cut. Not only that but you can't ignore her being a member of the Fugees or even her live album, which has received retrospective acclaim and has been sampled by dozens of mainstream artist. Her body of work cannot be reduced to the one solo album, which was a MASSIVE success. There's also the live album, which was a hugely underrated milestone in retrospect. Much of her best work is found in soundtrack albums, guest appearances on others' albums, one-off singles, and of course the Fugees. (I think it's lame how the Hall separates a career into non-overlapping solo and group material.) Posted by Paul on Thursday, 03/3/2022 @ 14:56pm |
Thought I had already told this story, but I also saw Ms. Hill at Voodoofest about 6 or 7 years ago and (of course) she was late. This time 40 mins late for a 1 hour set. They actually brought out someone who was making jokes at her expense (her tour bus is in the Popeye's drivethru and it's really backed up right now...). This after about 1/2 hour delay. She came out finally and did about 20 mins of her set & then they cut her sound off, as it was the end of her allotment & another act would be on that stage. Y'all are forgetting SISTER ACT!!! Posted by Zzyzx on Thursday, 02/2/2023 @ 11:55am |
Lauryn has the same amount of albums as the Janis Joplin. Two albums with a group, one solo, and one additional solo album (Janis' posthumous album and Lauryn's live album). Yet nobody tries to discredit Janis.. Lauryn is HIGHLY influential and absolutely a legend, being able to tour off the strength of one album and still sell out and headline tours 25 years after is Insane and speaks to her talent and the quality of her music. PUT HER IN Posted by Musicjunkieee on Sunday, 05/21/2023 @ 06:16am |
