Congratulations to Mary J. Blige on her two Academy Award Nominations For Best Song, ‘Mighty River’ and Best Supporting Actress (Mudbound). Hopefully, she will win both and also receive a nomination for Rock Hall induction later this year, also.

She ain't called the "Queen of Hip-Hop Soul" for nothing. Her music touches the soul. She is an artist that everybody wants to work with.( PERIOD) She has made music with almost everybody that's a who's who in the industry. When Mary is featured on someone else's track that record becomes an instant. She's the reason young female artists sing over the rap/hip-hop beats today. Stop hatin! There were many copy cat artist of her, that've came & went these past 25 yrs. You youngins, Beyonce is all you know. lol Hell yeah it's bout time. You should be glad a black woman might make into the rock n roll Hall fame. Last I looked there aren't enough black female artists in it.

Why is she now on the previously considered as if she has been looked at in the past?

Oh my God, Jay-Z duetted with Mary J. Blige once! Are they going to get inducted the same year? Damn it!

I find it very hard to listen to Mary J because she is always singing flat. It just bothers my ear because she signs ballads.

Are you kidding me? It's called the ROCK AND ROLL hall of fame! She is NOT rock!

Rock and roll is an expansive term that in this case means popular music also rnb formed rock so on any metric she is allowed in you hillbilly.

She should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Her body of work is outstanding!

Mary J Blige is not Rock n Roll. She is Queen of Hip-Hop & Soul, but she deserves to be inducted this year if she does. Lot of R&B artists got inducted it. So hope she does.

No offense to Mary J…but:
How did SHE get in BEFORE : Mary Wells, The Marvelettes, The Pointer Sisters, Patti LaBelle &
The Blue Belles/ LaBelle…and a host of OTHERS who have been around a LOT LONGER and have had
exceptional careers ?

@Bill G

None of those artists are more influential than Mary is in music. She changed the sound and image of R&B forever with her debut album. Their careers also aren't better than Mary's. She sold more albums, has more hit songs, and Grammy's than all of them. Instead of attacking Mary, maybe hold the RRHOF accountable for not inducting those artists years ago, and inducting rappers in their first week year of eligibility. Mary has been eligible for 7 years, and is finally inducted.
