I thought she was inducted a long time ago - definitely should've been - but Harry Belafonte in 2022 should be good news for Odetta soon-ish. Posted by Bookhouse on Friday, 12/23/2022 @ 12:43pm |
Odetta, an influential American folk and blues singer, deserves to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame due to her immense impact on the music industry and her lasting legacy as a trailblazing artist. With her powerful and emotive voice, she brought attention to the struggles and experiences of African Americans, making her an important figure in the civil rights movement. Odetta's music was characterized by its authenticity, rawness, and ability to evoke deep emotions in listeners. She fearlessly tackled social issues through her songs, using her platform to advocate for equality and justice. Odetta's contributions to the folk and blues genres influenced countless artists and helped pave the way for future generations of musicians. Her powerful voice and passionate performances continue to resonate with audiences today, making her an iconic figure in the history of American music. Inducting Odetta into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame would not only honor her remarkable talent but also recognize her significant impact on the musical and cultural landscape of our society. She deserves induction Posted by Mikhail on Tuesday, 06/11/2024 @ 22:54pm |
Outside of a less than RRhoF sales catalogue, a case for Odetta being the biggest snub could be made. Is she well known to the average rock music fan, but the INFLUENCE she had on music is indisputable. The "Early influence" or even "Musical Excellence" should finally be awarded to her (posthumously of course). Posted by Sweet Lou on Saturday, 08/31/2024 @ 09:53am |
