With Carrie Brownstein's current high profile with "Portlandia", I'm surprised to see that we've overlooked inducting anything from Sleater-Kinney, one of the most consistently acclaimed bands of the 90s. I can think of at least three deserving albums that hold up as classics of the era. They just moved up my queue.

saw this band Sunday night up in Cincinnati. Great show by a great band. They played for about 80 minutes. Hardly any chit-chat, just go right into the next song (which I like).

They had a touring backup guitarist/keyboard player. No bass player in this outfit. They thrash guitars. Was very impressed with drummer (Janet Weiss). Man, can she lay down the beat! Saw her on one song playing the crap out of the drums & also using the neck device to play harmonica as well. Have never seen anyone simultaneously playing a drum kit & blowing on harmonica (Neal Peart has probably done it, but I've never seen him). If you get a chance, catch em. You will not regret it.

Rolling Stone's writers LOVE Sleater-Kinney. I still remember the article Rolling Stone published after they went on hiatus in '06, begging them to re-group.I'll be surprised if they're not first ballot entrants.

That's also deserved. They're one of my favorite bands, amazing both live and in-studio.

NOTE: Have seen now the drummer for Nitty Gritty Dirt Band also playing drums & harmonicing at same time. He was just playing a simple beat on drums, while Janet was whaling away on them while she played the harmonica.

In Relix magazine, Janet Weiss has just announced she is departing from band. Said they were 'going in a different direction'.

This is a major loss, as Janet is one of the greatest drummers I've ever seen.

Sleater-Kinney are issuing a 25th Anniversary of Dig Me Out with a tribute album that features St. Vincent, Wilco, Low, Courtney Barnett, and Margo Price. While they never went even gold or have much chart success they are one of the most important indie bands ever.

I hope the hall someday inducts them
