It's all about timing. The "5" Royales, a phenomenal band of the fifties, were ahead of their time with their blend of voice sound and the spectacular guitar playing of Lowman Pauling. In a short amount of years, time caught up with them ... and passed them. With a little tweaking, the band would've cut to shreds any of the artists who emulated their sound and used their lyrics. They were an inspiration to the late, great Jimi Hendrix and a lyric model for artists like Mr. Showbiz himself, James Brown, the Mamas and the Papas, Ray Charles, and many more. Their box set of music, a 131 track collection, "Soul and Swagger: the Complete "5" Royales", honors their legacy. Their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015 is well deserved and long overdue. Posted by Irma M. Taylor on Saturday, 11/26/2022 @ 19:31pm |
