I'd say NO to Go Go's RRHOF although I enjoy Belinda Carlysle's voice and the groups sound. Head Over Heels & Our Lips Are Sealed. I think The Bangles have a better chance at induction. They can't be placed in RRHOF over Duran Duran, Def Leppard, The Cure, Judas Priest, Moody Blues, Chicago and several other deserving bands. KING

If Joan Jett can get in, then there should definitely be a spot for these ladies. While their career was not long, they managed to write and perform all of their music with an all female group. They influenced the Bangles and many other female groups that came after.

If the RRHOF wants to keep making improvements to the amount of female inductees, why not start with them (and Pat Benetar not far behind)?

I think the key to me here is they were song writers too (of major hits to boot) and that is hugely influential.

I think the GO GO's are a Go

Robert Hilburn thinks The Go-Go's will be the first all-white female group to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, if he had to choose. I asked him on twitter.

It would be interesting to see if Runaways or the Go-Go's get in first. I'm probably leaning towards the Go-Gos

Joan Jett is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! How is that possible that she's in before the Go-Go's Stevie Nicks, Pat Benatar, Bryan Adams, Phil Collins, WTF

It appears The Go-Go's are a chic pick for some of those FRL Regulars and other music fans making their yearly RRHOF predictions. I guess it's possible but they had a very short peak. Belinda Carlysle had some music chart success as a solo artist. I remember Heaven Is A Place On Earth and Mad About You were hits. I think The Go-Go's highest charting single was We Got The Beat at #2. In contrast, Roxette collected 4 #1 hit songs and 2 #2 hits. If people say The Go-Go's are deserving, then Roxette are equally deserving. I think Tears For Fears and The Go-Go's pretty comparable for their 80's success and acclaim they had been awarded. My opinion is Bryan Adams,Def Leppard, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, The Cure etc should be inducted before The Go-Go's. Also, Roxette deserves more consideration. KING

Roxette, The Go-Go's, and Bryan Adams deserve tha same amount of consideration- NONE!!!

Nope.

Vacation * Our Lips Are Sealed * We've Got The Beat

So they'll be nominated for the Rock Hall because their 80s music sounded like 50s-60s POP! I prefer Belinda Carlisle's solo work.

They should get in, but it’ll be tough to induct. They used to be everywhere during Beauty and the Beat. After that, they became less visible in the mainstream and split up too soon. What’s even more harder is most of the general public who only listen to music on the radio only know the Go-Go’s for “We Got the Beat.”

It’s no wonder Deep Purple, the Zombies and maybe Roxy music had to wait a very long time to get in. And it also sums up why Radiohead never made it at first year until now (which I wasn’t surprised about that to be honest with y’all).

Trailblazers in that they are the first all female band to write and perform their music and reach #1. 80's music and the Go-Go's are synonymous. Had a few underrated albums over the years after initial success but left a huge mark for women in music. End the undeserved delay and get these ladies into the HOF please.

The GoGos have legit 70s LA punk origins and are the first all female band who played there own instruments and wrote their own songs to make it in the business. They multiple chart topping hits are still widely played today and the paved the way for an army of copy cats and every legit female band post 1979. Their first tour they opened for Madness and the Specials In England and were spit at and abused by the SKA skiNhead audiences, but played aggressively though it. They came back to the US with a single, We Got the Beat, and a much tighter sound. If that's not rock and roll cred. I don't know what is. Induct them already!

Of course The Go-Go's deserve to be in The Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame !
They were the "80"They created their own look there own Sound A mixture of Punk and pop with Caffey's California vibe riffs Playing off Jane ,Kathy's fast strumming punk sounding bass Guitars ! With Gina's hard hitting slamming drums and with Belinda's Strong vocals up Front !These girls were the first all girl band to write their music white their own lyrics play their own instruments and to ever be in an all female band have a #1. Song And first female band to have a #1 debut album .Every album they put out at least one song in the top #10
They toured the world conquered the music industry and they did it all before they were 30 !!Every girl band after them was created in a board Room and polished and handpicked in a studio trying to emulate what these girls did on their own !!! If that's not a Drop the Mic

It is a travesty that they are not yet in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are one of the few bands that had their debut album go to #1, and the only female band to write their own songs and play their own instruments. If anyone says they weren't around long enough, I will remind them that Buffalo Springfield was not around very long and is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. These ladies deserve to be enshrined in the RARHOF.

I think that what definitely helps the Go-Gos are their supporters like Stewart Copeland and others who are demanding their induction; on the other hand, what hurts the Go-Gos is their short-lived career, their party song oeuvre and the fact that neither Belinda Carlisle, nor Gina Shock had written any of their early songs. In my honest opinion, if Belinda Carlisle had contributed songs and lyrics in their early years, they probably would have been shoo-ins to the Rock Hall.

Well, what do you think?

The go gos should have been voted in the hall of fame a long time .they showed the world what a all female band could do..I liked metal but still had there albums went to there concerts.

The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame is NOT being fair The GOGOs deserve to be in The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame because they have worked very hard for it they are an all girl band who played their own music and played their own musical instruments and The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame have no idea what The GOGOs went through to get to where they are today

They have been nominated. While they make it in this year I think they can wait a decade compared to the other nominees.

I would love for Belinda Carlisle, Charlotte Caffey, Jane Wiedlin, Kathy Valentine and Gina Schock to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. I love them all, but I have a special fondness for Charlotte, one of the best singer-songwriters, guitarists and keyboard players of all time!

Pat Benatar didn't get in last year, the Go-Go's are not getting in this year!

I just realized how much Belinda Carlisle and Stevie Nicks sound alike.

I can hear Stevie Nicks singing Belinda Carlisle songs in the 80s: Mad About You, Heaven Is A Place On Earth, I Get Weak, Circle In The Sand, Leave A Light On For Me, and I can hear Belinda Carlisle singing Stevie Nicks songs in the 80s: Edge Of Seventeen, Stand Back, I Can't Wait, Talk To Me, Rooms On Fire.

Fleetwood Mac could have performed Our Lips Are Sealed, and The Go-Go's could have performed Gypsy.

It seems strange that, with the welcome addition of three female acts and five new women into the R&R HoF (since King and Turner are second-time inductees, I'm only counting the five Go-Go's as new members), two of them performing may be problematic, since Belinda Carlisle and Tina Turner are not American residents anymore.

Belinda Carlisle is a resident of Thailand.

They are finally in
I would be thinking would all 9 women that played in the band at some point since 1978 be there?
That may be a hard question

Vixen definitely deserves to be in the RRHF. Even though they were short lived, they were the first and only female metal band and had a huge following. I still love watching their videos. They also played their instruments, no decoys. No all female bands have come close to them in look and talent which is why they deserve a nod. First female metal band that's still loved today.
